Integrated Corrosion
Test Rig
This test rig is comprised of flow loops (FL) for simulating
the flow regimes experienced in pipes and producing wells;
a rotating cylinder electrode (RCE); and a jet impingement
(JI). The RCE permits turbulent flow conditions to be simulated
at low Reynolds numbers and the jet impingement enables high
turbulence and mixed flow conditions to be simulated. The
FL enable simultaneous corrosion tests to be performed by
weight loss as well as electrochemical measurements. The FL
and RCE can each simulate flow shear stress values of up to
250 Pa, while JI allows the simulation of larger shear stress
values.
Rotating Cylinder Electrodes
The RCE’s allow Roemex to rapidly evaluate the effect of flow
on the performance of candidate products, as they will attain
turbulent flow at low Reynolds numbers.

Test Apparatus
This facility has 8 cells with the capability for conducting
tests under sweet or sour conditions and at temperatures up
to 95°C. This apparatus enables rapid screening of candidate
products prior to evaluation using RCE or integrated corrosion
test rig.
Localised Corrosion
Test Cell
Roemex have a test cell for evaluating the effectiveness of
corrosion inhibitors to mitigate pitting or crevice corrosion
under well-defined geometry and temperature. This facility
can accurately simulate crevice gaps in the range of 5 micrometers
upward.
Applied Corrosion Monitoring
(ACM) Equipment
Roemex have an ACM Gill 12, 12-channel potentiostat for electrochemical
corrosion tests. This computer-driven facility is equipped
with a wide range of techniques, including Linear Polarisation
Resistance (LPR), Zero Resistance Ammeter (ZRA), Electrochemical
Noise Measurement (ENM), Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy
(EIS), Harmonic Analysis, Potentiodynamic and Galvanodynamic
sweeps. This versatile equipment permits up to 12 tests to
be carried out simultaneously at different conditions and
using the same or a combination of techniques.

Evaluation - Roemex regularly conduct weight loss coupon
tests on materials supplied by clients. We have the capability
for conducting static tests in house at temperatures up to
200°C. Other dynamic, high temperature-high pressure tests
can be conducted along with SEM analysis of the metal surface
for detailing any damage.
Field Corrosion Monitoring
Sidestream Unit
To facilitate effective corrosion management in the field
Roemex utilise a Corrosion Sidestream fitted with 3 high-pressure
stainless steel corrosion cells and LPR probes. Corrosion
rates of fluids are monitored using a portable ACM Instruments
LPR monitor. The unit can be used in conjunction with a chemical
injection pump in order to field trial corrosion inhibitors.
